About us

        Trakya University Kırkpınar Faculty of Sports Sciences firstly started its education and training activities within the scope of Trakya University Faculty of Education in 1993 as the "Department of Physical Education and Sports" and was established with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 14.11.1995 and numbered 95/7515; With the decision of the Higher Education Council dated 04.04.1996 and numbered 5704, it was named as “Physical Education and Sports School” affiliated to Trakya University Rectorate. Later, with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 11.11.2005 and numbered 2005/9552, it was renamed as “Kırkpınar School of Physical Education and Sports”. On the other hand, "Coaching Education Department" was opened in 2006, followed by "Sports Management Department" and "Recreation Department" in 2008, and also secondary education programs of "Coaching Education Department" and "Sports Management Department" were opened in 2010. Finally, with the Official Gazette dated 28.03.2020 and numbered 31088 and the Presidential decision numbered 2319, "Kırkpınar School of Physical Education and Sports " was closed, and instead of it, “Kırkpınar Faculty of Sports Sciences” was established by the founding dean of Prof. Dr. Hakan TUNA in 2020.

     In addition to providing education at the undergraduate level, our faculty carries out "Physical Education and Sports Department" master's and doctorate programs in the Institute of Health Sciences, and "Recreation Management Department" master’s programs in the Social Sciences Institute.

 

       As of 2022, there are a total of 33 teaching staff, including 3 Professor Doctors, 5 Associate Professors, 2 Lecturer Dr(s), 21 Lecturers, 1 Research Assistant Dr and 1 Research Assistant in our faculty.
